S.O.Shark is a blind box and art toy design project that is made exclusively from
collected ocean plastic and highlight certain plights brought onto our marine life.

Each of the animals depicted were decided by endangered animal lists, popularity, and mostly due to recent news events involving the animal.
Each of the animals were sculpted with manufacturing in mind, mainly; roto-molding and injection molding. I was able to source reclaimed ocean plastic from a company in Canada: The Ocean Legacy Foundation. The rendered figures are done-so to mimic the natural CMF of the plastic pellets received.
The toys are broken up into two categories:
1. Blind Boxes; a complete mystery to which one you will receive. Maybe you can get lucky with the secret “chase” figure!
2. Art Toy; a larger statement piece. Very limited run, collector piece.

All of the toys not only remove plastic from the ocean, but bring awareness to issues going on within our oceans and educate on those issues!

Along with designing the figures, more has to be figured out for the process. I set out at the beginning of the project to have these figures produced, research was done to theoretically have them industrially made. Most of this research is below!
